Fushan Experimental Forest
In 1992, the National Science Council of Taiwan initiated a long-term ecological study at Fushan, as the first Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) site in Taiwan. Later in 2004, the first subtropical 25-ha Forest Dynamics Plots (FDP) was established to the west of Fushan Experimental Forest. The research team includes scientists from different areas, such as atmospheric science, hydrology, nutrient cycling, soil chemistry, entomology, zoology, botany etc. The aim of these studies is to understand the composition and functions of this ecosystem. The research activities include studies of hydro-meteorology, soil erosion, subsurface flow, nutrient cycling, biomass, photosynthesis, transpiration, and animal community ecology. At present, more than 200 projects have been conducted at Fushan, and more than 100 research publications have been published.
