FaunaThere are nearly 700 species of animals living in Fushan. The broadleaf forest supports a wide range of animal species. Systematic studies on the fauna of Fushan have revealed 148 vertebrate species and more than 500 species of invertebrate, which are primarily insects.

There are 22 species of mammals, 91 species of birds, 15 species of reptiles, 14 species of frogs, and 6 species of fishes.

Some of most commonly seen mammals include Formosan Macaque, Crab-eating Mongoose, Formosan Reeve's Muntjac, and Formosan Wild Boar.

Some birds rest near the pond or stream, such as Mandarin Duck and Little Grebe. Rare resident bird, Indian Black Eagle has the longest spread wings among resident birds of prey in Taiwan. Swinhoe's Pheasant, Crested Serpent Eagle, Lesser Scimitar Babbler are some other species in abundance.

Some other animal species of particular interest to researchers are Zacco Barbatus, Orange-Belly Green Tree Frog, Emerald Green Tree Frog, and Swinhoe's Frog.
